According to the National Research Council1, convergence research “integrates knowledge, tools, and ways of thinking across disciplinary boundaries…to form a synthetic framework for tackling scientific and societal challenges.” The Growing Convergence Research (GCR) program at NSF is one of the NSF’s “Ten Big Ideas”.
Our NSF GCR award is for up to $3.6M over five years, and brings together faculty and students from four universities (Virginia Tech , University of Maryland , North Carolina State University and Vanderbilt University) and nearly 40 stakeholders representing a broad range of perspectives, expertise and interest in freshwater salinization.
